Following on from an incredibly successful Diamond Anniversary and in particular the inaugural Grass Roots event organised in the Lake District, The Chromatographic Society are organising another educational event. The remit of the Society is to support chromatographers and we do this through the organisation of symposia, funding of students and industrial chromatographers to attend chromatographic conferences (nationally and internationally) and funding of academic research.
The course will focus on the fundamentals of liquid chromatography and how this can be applied practically in industry and academia. The event will be delivered by a number of chromatographers with extensive training and industrial experience (Prof. Mel Euerby (Shimadzu), Tony Taylor (Crawford Scientific), Prof. Tony Edge (Agilent), and Dr Paul Ferguson (AstraZeneca)). While the meeting will be primarily educational, there will also be extensive opportunities for networking and a walking social programme.
The event is being held at the Longmynd Hotel, which is situated overlooking the beautiful town of Church Stretton in a plateau area of heath and moorland that forms part of the Shropshire Hills in Shropshire. The high ground, which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies between the Stiperstones range to the west and the Stretton Hills and Wenlock Edge to the east.
The registration fee also includes all accommodation and meals at the hotel, in conjunction with the active social programme. For delegates who do not wish to participate in the walking there are an array of attractions to be found in Church Stretton, including art galleries, gift shops and tea rooms.
The event is being sponsored by a number of chromatography companies who will provide partial funding for a number of UK based post-graduate researchers to attend this event.
We have a limited number of full bursaries for the event provided through industry sponsorship. The Society will also provide a number of bursaries which will reduce the cost of registration and accommodation to £300. These are available to post graduate students and industrial chromatographers working in small and medium sized companies.
To apply for bursaries please contact us on email@example.com for further details.
(Undergraduate applications will also be considered from final year students who intend to pursue a career in analytical chemistry or postgraduate research requiring the use of liquid chromatography.)
